Arts in Health Program

Following completion of the hospital construction in Blackburn, Balfour Beatty Capital established the Arts in Health program.

Roads

A series of Arts Activity Days took place in October 2006 when jazz duets, stilt walkers and ballroom dancers descended on Blackburn to entertain the hospital community. The Wandering Minstrels, a lively tuba and clarinet playing duo, were a favorite with hospital staff and patients in the children’s ward.

The Arts in Health program is an exciting and innovative approach to patient care and an effective tool in healthcare. This program is transforming the healthcare experience for patients and health professionals. Supporting mental health and well-being, all the artists specialized in working with people in healthcare settings. They used many genres—music, dance, visual art and writing.

Balfour Beatty Capital and the National Health Service (NHS) Trust will work closely to develop the best ongoing program that supports patient care at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
