At Balfour Beatty Investments, one set of values across the company guides the way we interact with our clients, our employees and our vendors. In defining these values, we spoke to a broad range of stakeholders including clients, customers, vendors, suppliers, partners and employees. This research has not only helped us to reflect on who we are today, but also to look at what we need to become in the years ahead.
Rooted in our values, Balfour Beatty's Code of Conduct provides all our employees with a clear framework within which to make the right decisions. Our Code of Conduct explains the behavior we expect from all our employees across the Group. Our code requires employees to think about how to apply these principles and our values and ask, "Is this the right thing to do? Is this what we stand for?"
We ask the same of our customers, vendors, suppliers and partners - Supplier Code of Conduct.

We will not risk doing harm, we will not accept any target other than zero.
Only by setting the highest standards for ourselves will we be able to retain the trust of our customers and the people using our infrastructure. In October 2008, we committed to achieving Zero Harm in our business.’

Sustainability
At Balfour Beatty we believe that sustainability is a collective responsibility. We recognize that resource depletion, the impacts of climate changes and the expectations of our customers, investors, employees and society will intensify to make sustainable choices.
As a group, we have set our Sustainability vision roadmap to achieving this. The vision sets goals for all businesses in three areas – profitable markets, healthy communities and environmental limits. The roadmap aims to ensure that by 2020, wherever in the world we are operating, sustainability will be embedded into everything we do.
